Becoming a Private Pilot is the first step in your aviation journey. It allows you to fly for personal and recreational purposes, and is the foundation for all future pilot training.

The national average is around 60-70 hours of flight time to become a Private Pilot.

The Instrument Rating allows you to fly in a wider range of weather conditions, and is a requirement for many advanced pilot certifications. It teaches you how to navigate and control an aircraft solely by reference to instruments.

The Commercial Pilot certificate allows you to be compensated for your flying, and is a requirement for many professional pilot careers. It builds on the skills learned in the Private Pilot, and prepares you for a career in aviation.

The Flight Review is mandatory for all pilots to maintain their recency to act as PIC every 24 calendar months. It consists of a minimum of 1 hour of ground instruction and 1 hour of flight instruction, and is designed to ensure that pilots are up to date on the latest regulations and best practices.

Failure to maintain Instrument currency for longer than 6 calendar months requires a pilot to complete an Instrument Proficiency Check (IPC) to act as PIC under IFR or in weather conditions less than VFR.
